2017 Giving Back Campaign: WATERisLIFE
As shared in an old LinkedIn post, I was confronted by some disturbing statistics on my way to Thanksgiving Dinner 2015. These sidebar statistics are equally disturbing, especially when the cost of a WATERisLIFE water filter straw (approx. $10USD) can provide a child filtered water for a year or longer.
In 2016 and again for 2017, HOPEWELL has chosen WATERisLIFE to be the focus of our Giving Back Campaign, committing 3% of Net Profits for the purchase and distribution of water filter straws. We sincerely hope you will play a part in this campaign by allowing HOPEWELL and Principals to be of service to you.
In addition, we invite you (as a company or as an individual) to take the "Change-It" challenge and turn your own spare change into clean water for those in need.
2.4 million deaths could be prevented each year if people had access to clean water and adequate sanitation and practiced good hygiene.
Almost 1 billion people lack access to safe water, and about 2.6 billion people do not have improved sanitation. Hand washing with soap can reduce diarrhea incidence by 48%.
1 in 5 children under the age of 5 die each day from waterborne disease - one every 21 seconds as a direct result of contaminated water and poor sanitation and hygiene.
